Melius Cyber Secures £500K

Melius Cyber, a Newcastle-based company specializing in cybersecurity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has secured an additional £500,000 in funding. This round, led by the North East Venture Fund and managed by Mercia, will boost their flagship platform, CyberSafe, which helps businesses detect cyber risks within hours.

  • CyberSafe for SMEs: The company’s CyberSafe platform is designed to monitor IT networks, websites, and mobile apps for SMEs 24/7, providing round-the-clock cyber risk detection.

  • CEO’s Vision: Richard Brown, CEO of Melius, emphasized that CyberSafe reduces the time to detect breaches from 277 days to just one, enabling businesses to respond swiftly to threats.

  • Investor Confidence: Ian Wilson, Fund Principal at Mercia, praised Melius’s progress, noting that the platform is solving a critical problem for SMEs by offering a scalable, efficient cybersecurity solution.

  • Growth Plans: The latest funding brings Melius Cyber’s total investment to £1.35 million and will be used to develop a full security operation centre (SOC), create six new jobs, and launch the updated CyberSafe platform.
