Melius Cyber, a Newcastle-based company specializing in cybersecurity for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has secured an additional £500,000 in funding. This round, led by the North East Venture Fund and managed by Mercia, will boost their flagship platform, CyberSafe, which helps businesses detect cyber risks within hours.
Funding Milestone: Melius Cyber raised £500,000 from the North East Venture Fund, supported by the European Regional Development Fund and managed by Mercia.
CyberSafe for SMEs: The company’s CyberSafe platform is designed to monitor IT networks, websites, and mobile apps for SMEs 24/7, providing round-the-clock cyber risk detection.
CEO’s Vision: Richard Brown, CEO of Melius, emphasized that CyberSafe reduces the time to detect breaches from 277 days to just one, enabling businesses to respond swiftly to threats.
Investor Confidence: Ian Wilson, Fund Principal at Mercia, praised Melius’s progress, noting that the platform is solving a critical problem for SMEs by offering a scalable, efficient cybersecurity solution.
Growth Plans: The latest funding brings Melius Cyber’s total investment to £1.35 million and will be used to develop a full security operation centre (SOC), create six new jobs, and launch the updated CyberSafe platform.
