Nanyang Technological University (NTU) and Walden International have launched the Nanyang Frontier Fund, a new venture capital initiative aimed at supporting deep tech spin-offs from NTU.

  • Fund Overview: The Nanyang Frontier Fund is the first venture capital fund in Singapore dedicated to a university. The fund has an initial target of S$50 million ($37.94 million) and will support NTU’s deep tech startups.

  • Investment Commitments: Walden International’s Chairman, Tan Lip-Bu, and associates have committed S$5 million ($3.79 million) to kickstart the fund. NTU will match this contribution with another S$5 million ($3.79 million).

  • Focus Areas: The Nanyang Frontier Fund will focus on identifying and nurturing disruptive technologies from NTU and Singapore-based startups. The goal is to scale these innovations into global businesses, particularly in deep tech and AI-driven sectors.

With the launch of the Nanyang Frontier Fund, NTU and Walden International are set to catalyze the growth of deep tech startups in Singapore, aiming to transform groundbreaking innovations into global ventures.
