Despite rumors, Delivery Hero has confirmed that discussions about selling its Foodpanda Southeast Asia division are not just alive—they’re progressing.

  • Potential Buyers: Grab, the Southeast Asian superapp, is reportedly showing keen interest in purchasing Foodpanda. Other names like the Chinese Meituan have made the rounds, but they’ve officially stepped back from these claims.
  • Strategic Shifts: It’s not simply a transfer of digital real estate. Delivery Hero seeks to hand over the reins of Foodpanda in seven key markets: Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Cambodia, Myanmar, and Laos.
  • Approval Required: Even if they manage to cross the T’s on a sales agreement, there’s a bureaucratic marathon to run—one involving the Delivery Hero’s Supervisory Board and regulatory approvals from the markets involved.
